We miss our Volunteers
Our Home is operating and safe but there is something missing. Our Volunteers. To protect our Residents, we have had to lock down our Residence to all outside visitors. Our Volunteers are a group of dedicated and reliable people who on average donate a total of 1100 hours per month to the care of our Residents and the seamless operation of our Home. Our Volunteers supervise Resident activities, feed our Residents, drive our Residents to medical appointments, operate our Gift Shop and Thrift Store, support our annual Craft Fair, preform administrative work, accompany our Residents on field trips and most importantly, simply visit and spend time with our Residents.
The presence of Volunteers at Queen of Peace is not something new. The spirit of volunteering has been present at Queen of Peace for the last 50 years. Many of our current volunteers have been doing it for 10, 15, 20 years and more. This spirit of a desire to help others not only contributes to the operation of our Home, but our Volunteers greatly contribute to the welcoming, positive and enjoyable atmosphere which is present at Queen of Peace. Our Volunteers are a great source of joy and humor for our Residents.
To put the service of our Volunteers in perspective, last year our Volunteers contributed approximately 14,500 hours of service to our Home and our Residents. We surely could not afford to pay for all the service our Volunteers provide us from the love in their hearts. We pray that our Volunteers stay safe and we look forward to the day that they will be back in our Home, serving our Residents with love and respect.
