Young people are invited to get to know the Little Sisters and their ministry to the aged poor by volunteering their time and talent. There are several ways to become involved:
Join Children of Mary
Queen of Peace invites young people ages 14-18 to share their youthful spirit with our elderly Residents. Children of Mary meets every first Saturday of the month.
Volunteer individually or as a group
For example, the members of the youth group at St. Catherine of Sienna parish in nearby Franklin Square, New York come every Friday evening to help serve meals to the Residents in the dining rooms. Chaminade and Kellenberg High School students organize many activities throughout the year for the Residents.
Participate in the summer work program
Queen of Peace is a host home for college-age young women participating in the Little Sisters of the Poor summer work program.
…Watching the Sisters living out their vocation and working with caring staff who are an extension of their hospitality affirms that God is alive and well in our world. I needed this…to see it, experience it to restore the joy I have in the Lord in this weary world. -Peggy
One thing that stands out to me is the love and joy that is seen in each of the Little Sisters. -Jaclyn
The atmosphere is great and the amount of joy is awesome. -Isabelle
My experience at Queen of Peace exceeds my expectations. The residents have taught me so much. The life of the Little Sisters is so beautiful. They are truly Christ in the world. -Olivia
