On May 1, the Little Sisters of the Poor at Queen of Peace Residence held their 28th Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful Hempstead Country Club. This year’s honorees were our good friends, Vicki and Joseph Ferrara of Garden City.
Although the day started cloudy and cool, by time the golfers began to play at 12:30 p.m. the weather had become sunny and with a gentle breeze. We were blessed to have 157 golfers playing and we had over 220 guests for dinner.
From all accounts the golfers had a great time at the morning buffet and on the course throughout the day. The evening’s program was conducted by Joseph Liana, Sr., Chairman of the 2017 golf committee. The Auxiliary Committee of Queen of Peace did an amazing job of created unique prize baskets for the silent auction. The program was highlighted by the live auction directed by Ed Kline, a member of the golf committee.
The golf outing has become the largest annual fundraiser for the Little Sisters and provides needed funding to allow the Sisters to continue their mission during the summer months.
Thank you to all of you who supported the outing. We are blessed to have you as our partners and friends, as we continue our mission to serve the elderly poor with dignity and respect.
