On Monday, May 7 the Little Sisters of the Poor at Queen of Peace Residence held their 29th Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful Hempstead Golf and Country Club. This year’s honorees were our dear friends, Cathy and Nick DeMartini of Rockville Centre.
It was a beautiful sunny day with an occasional gentle breeze to keep the day cool. We were blessed to have 155 golfers playing and we had over 220 guests at dinner including Residents and Sisters.
From all accounts the golfers had a great time at the morning buffet and on the course throughout the day.
The Auxiliary Committee of Queen of Peace did an amazing job of creating unique prize baskets for the “pick your prize” raffle. Additionally, the Auxiliary Committee members served throughout the day to make sure all the moving parts of the outing were taken care of with efficiency and a smile.
The evening’s program was conducted by Joseph Liana, Sr., Chairman of the 2018 golf committee. The program was highlighted by the live auction directed by the one and only Ed Kline, a dedicated member of the golf committee.
The Golf Outing has become the largest annual fundraiser for the Little Sisters and provides needed funding to allow the Sisters to continue their mission during the summer months.
Thank you to all of you who supported the outing. We are blessed to have you as our partners and friends, as we continue our mission to serve the elderly poor with dignity and respect.
