30th Annual Golf Outing – A Joyful Success
On Monday, May 6 the Little Sisters of the Poor at Queen of Peace Residence held their 30th Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful Hempstead Golf and Country Club. This year’s honoree was Joseph Liana, Jr. of Ameriprise Financial Services in Garden City, New York.
Although the heavy rain the day before caused the cancellation of our “early AM “golfers, by time the afternoon shotgun began, the weather was bright and sunny. We were blessed to have 178 golfers registered for the day and we had over 220 guests at dinner.
From all accounts the golfers had a great time at the morning buffet and on the course throughout the day.
The evening’s program was conducted by Joseph Liana, Sr., Chairman of the 2019 Golf Committee.
The Auxiliary Committee of Queen of Peace did an absolutely amazing job of created unique prize baskets for the pick your prize auction. The program was highlighted by the live auction directed by Ed Kline, a dear friend of the Little Sisters and a member of the Golf Committee.
This year, thanks to a generous benefactor, we had a Super Raffle drawing for a one week stay for 15 guests at a luxury villa in St. Thomas, VI famously known a Villa Viento.
Our golf outing has become the largest annual fundraiser for the Little Sisters and provides needed funding to allow the Sisters to continue their mission during the summer months.
Thank you to all of you who supported the outing. We are blessed to have you as our partners and friends, as we continue our mission to serve the elderly poor with dignity and respect.
A Joyful Success
