Valentine’s Day is a special one among friends. On February 7, the 45th anniversary of Queen of Peace Residence, students from Kellenberg and Chaminade High Schools joined their “friends,” our Residents, for a Junior/Senior Prom. This year the theme was Valentine’s Day. Our well elderly and infirmed Residents look forward to the he Junior/Senior prom. Party dresses and suits are taken out of the closets, hair is curled and shoes shined for the occasion. This is the 26th year that these students live the words of Saint Jeanne Jugan: “Making the elderly happy – that is what counts!’ The students go to the Residents’ rooms to greet them and accompany them to the prom. As they reach the auditorium, each Resident receives a carnation and has their picture taken with their “date.” After picture taking, they proceed inside for an eventful, and enjoyable evening of music and dance and light refreshments.
