We enjoyed a wonderful visit from our Mother General Celine de la Visitation during her stay at St. Ann’s Novitiate from October 20-23. On Sunday, October 21 we were blessed to have Mother General and her assistant, Mother Gerard Patricia, join us for Mass. The Little Sisters of the novitiate led the singing with beautiful musical accompaniment of flute, clarinet and violin. It was also Mission Sunday, a special Sunday to pray for the missions and missionaries. Among the Queen of Peace community we have two Little Sisters from India, one from the Philippines and one from Ireland – true missionaries to the elderly in the United States. One of our Little Sisters here spent many years in Asia and another Little Sister devoted herself in Spain, France and South America.
Mother General is originally from San Francisco and has spent more than 30 years in the service of the Congregation at our motherhouse, La Tour-St. Joseph, in St. Pern, France. Mother Gerard Patricia is originally from Ireland. At Mass the prayers of the faithful were offered by the Little Sisters in the different languages. Following Mass Mother General met the members of the Association Jeanne Jugan and then visited the Residents in the dining rooms, sharing with them news of the Homes in the different countries and giving each Resident a small gift. Mother General’s visit on Mission Sunday was a special reminder of the family spirit that unites us – Little Sisters, Residents and collaborators – in our Homes throughout the world.
