On Saturday, March 5, Mother Provincial Margaret Regina and Mother Celine Thérèse, in the name of all the Little Sisters at Queen of Peace, were awarded the Father Michael J. McGivney Medal for Life.
The Pro Vita Mass took place at Saint James Cathedral-Basilica, in Brooklyn, with Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros as the main celebrant. Among the concelebrants were Father Michael Gefant, homilist, and our good friend, Father Mark Cregan, C.S.C.
The Knights of Columbus formed an honor guard for the entrance procession and the recessional. The Mass was that of the Sunday of the Fourth Week of Lent.
Before the conclusion of Mass, the doctors, nurses and team at Calvary Hospital, Brooklyn Campus at NYU Lutheran Hospital, Sunset Park were award the Bishop Thomas V. Daily Pro Vita Award.
Next was our turn. With Mother Provincial and Mother Celine next to the Bishop, other Little Sisters were on the left and right of them in the sanctuary.
Bishop Cisneros, in his closing remarks, told us that he doesn’t thank people for what they do, but recognizes what they do. He told us to “keep on doing what you have been called to do.”
