On September 27, Residents, Little Sisters, Associates Jeanne Jugan and Volunteers made their way to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville, New York, for a final Year of Mercy Pilgrimage.
They arrived for Mass, celebrated by Father Roy Tvrdiks, S.M.M., Director of the Shrine. After Mass, all enjoyed a boxed lunch before taking a tour of the grounds. A special attraction in the Avenue of the Saints was a statue of Saint Jeanne Jugan!
In the afternoon, Father Roy gave the group a conference on the importance of Mary, who leads us to Jesus. He was surprised to learn that the birthplace of Saint Louis Marie de Monforte and Saint Jeanne Jugan are only 10 minutes from each other!
After the conference, Father led the group in procession through the Holy Door and then together they prayed for the intentions of Pope Francis, followed by the Holy Father’s Prayer for Mercy. All came home renewed in their desire to be instruments of mercy.
