Advent and Christmas

  • January 5, 2017

The Advent and Christmas Seasons were filled with events to prepare us for Christmas and to put us in the Christmas Spirit.

The Apartment Residents were the first to have a Christmas party on December 13. They were followed by the 2nd floor Residents on December 14, and then on December 15 was the Annual Semantics Party. They are a group of people who give generously of their time and provide a dinner, gifts and even a magician!

The Associates Jeanne Jugan met for a luncheon on December 18 and the 3rd floor Residents enjoyed treats and attention on December 19. The employees came together for their Christmas party on December 20 and the volunteers had their turn on December 21.

We were happy to be brought back to the Advent Season and spiritual preparation for Christmas Day, on December 22, when students from Kellenberg and Chaminade High Schools led us in Lessons and Carols. Christmas Midnight Mass was celebrated at 4:30 p.m. on December 24 and then Residents and guests enjoyed dinner together in the auditorium.

On December 31, Residents and Little Sisters joined together for a Holy Hour of gratitude and reparation. This was followed by a New Year’s Eve supper-party for the Residents, in the auditorium, with a disc jockey and a clock that reached midnight about 7 p.m.! Then, champagne was served and “Happy New Year” was the spoken wish of everyone present.

Here’s a look at the events… We hope you enjoy the photos. The final photo is a look at our outdoor Nativity scene.
