The safety and security of our Residents remain our first priority. Accordingly, the Little Sisters and staff at Queen of Peace have established an Incident Command System, in accordance with the Nursing Home Incident Command System, which would be activated in the event of an emergency. The incident command system is under the supervision and guidance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Additionally, fire drills are regularly practice at our Home and an evacuation plan for our Residents has been developed.
On August 29th, the incident command system was tested in a planned evacuation drill of our Residence. The Little Sisters and staff assumed their respective roles under the incident command system, and conducted the complete evacuation of our Residents. The drill was performed very efficiently and without incident. Afterwards, everyone, the Little Sisters, staff and Residents were treated to ice cream!
We pray we never have to implement the emergency procedures we have in place in our Home but, in the event we have to…we are prepared.
Being Prepared
