On July 31, 2013, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we welcomed Father Jun Hee Lee, a newly ordained priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn. During his homily, he explained how he received his faith through his family. “I realized I was experiencing the personal love of the Lord through my parents,” said Father Jun. Speaking to the Residents, he commended them, too, for witnessing their faith to their families and friends.
While studying in Rome as a seminarian, Fr. Jun was blessed to meet Pope Francis during a general audience in St. Peter’s Square. The Vicar of Christ blessed his chalice and told him: “Always remember to celebrate every Mass as if it was your very first.” Fr. Jun continues to grow in his desire to share the personal love of God with others through priestly service.
After Mass, Residents, Sisters and volunteers stood in line to receive his first blessing. He took his time with each one. For Residents unable to come to the chapel, he graciously went from room to room to offer his blessing.
While in the seminary, Fr. Jun volunteered his time at Queen of Peace. He spent the summer at Incarnation Parish in Queens Village, and will be returning to Rome to complete his studies
