Go, Don’t Fear, Serve were the words of Pope Francis proclaimed to over three million pilgrims on Copacabana Beach at the closing Mass of World Day in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, July 28th, 2013.
St. Ann’s novitiate celebrated World Youth Day too with more than 60 young women from across the US. During the weekend they had an opportunity to pray, reflect and get a glimpse into the ministry of the Little Sisters by paying a visit to Queen of Peace. The young women presented a program of their own talents just for the Residents. For the closing number, they choreographed a dance to the theme song for World Youth Day, Go Be Missionaries. The Residents were thrilled to see so many young smiling faces.
The afternoon included made-to-order ice cream sundaes that the young women and Sisters served to the Residents. What a joy to see so many young people passionate to share to their faith. We hope that each one will continue live in service to Christ. Perhaps some of them will even hear the call follow the Lord more closely as daughters of St. Jeanne Jugan!
