The focal point of our Holy Week and Easter celebrations was our chapel, decorated with a profusion of lilies, hydrangeas and tulips donated by Kurt Weiss Greenhouses, a family owned business that has been generously giving to the Home for more than 30 years. The Easter Vigil took place on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., when we gathered before a small Easter fire. The beauty of this sacred liturgy, which calls to mind all of salvation history, culminating in the death and resurrection of Jesus, was enhanced by the singing and musical accompaniment of the Little Sisters, novices and postulants from our novitiate next door. For the Mass Easter morning, we had the happiness of welcoming members of the Glenn Mohr Chorale, whose soaring harmonization of well-known Easter hymns added to the joy of the day.
Following Mass the Residents enjoyed a special Easter dinner prepared by our kitchen staff, complete with ice cream sundaes scooped and served by the novices and postulants. The dinner took place in the auditorium, festively decorated in bright springtime colors.
As we begin the Easter season, may the gifts of the Risen Lord – peace, joy and love – be yours in abundance.
Wishing you a blessed Easter as we rejoice in our Risen Lord!
