Faith Can Move Mountains…and Furniture
And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you,” – Mathew 17:20.
As a result of our faith, we have moved…furniture. Furniture? Yes, furniture. A sturdy table, a taller narrower table and a chair. This furniture now makes up the newly created Chapel on our fourth floor for our independent living Residents. The sturdy table is actually a movable altar on wheels, just add an altar covering and candles. The narrower table is actually an old chest of drawers from the basement and now supports a Tabernacle containing Christ. The fourth-floor north side corridor is used once a week for daily Mass celebrated by our Chaplain, Fr. Evans. Our fourth-floor Residents can sit – socially distant – in the hallway outside their apartments, or participate in the Mass from the transformed Association of Jeanne Jugan room, and see and hear Fr. Evans celebrate Mass. This Mass supplements the daily televised Mass we offer to all of our Resident’s from our main Chapel on the second floor.
Our faith remains strong. Our faith led us to create a Chapel where one did not exist. We continue to pray for the day when all of our Residents may once again gather in our main Chapel to celebrate the sacrifice of the Mass. In the meantime, we continue to observe all the safety procedures and protocols in place to keep our dear Residents safe.
