Our Feathered Friends
When people were able to visit our Home, one of the common takeaways was their recognition of the collection of animals we have throughout our Home for the enjoyment of our Residents. As you may recall, in our main lobby we have a 500-gallon freshwater aquarium complete with assorted tropical fish; all under the loving care of our own Sr. Alice.
What our visitors use to frequently comment on, was the chirping and singing of the songbirds on each of the floors of our Home. We are fortunate to have a varied collection of songbirds in our aviary on the main floor and in hanging cages throughout our Home. The singing of the birds adds a sense of joy to ordinary sounds of our Home. Our Residents love the interaction with our songbirds and dote on them with special snacks.
As author Terri Guillemets has said, “The birds of Hope are Everywhere, Listen to Them Sing.” How true those words are today At Queen of Peace as our feathered friends help us deal with the pandemic.
