July 21 and 22 were special days at Saint Ann’s Novitiate! Queen of Peace Residence, being the next door neighbor, is always involved in the celebration! Two Postulants became Novices on Friday, July 21. Sister Fatima of Jesus and Sister Maria Raphael are the two on the ends in the photo.
The next day, Very Reverend James Massa, Auxiliary Bishop of the Brooklyn Diocese, was the Main Celebrant at the Mass, during which Sister Mary Gerard to the left of the Bishop in the photo, and Sister Faustina Clare to the right in the photo, made their First Profession. As usual, after the Mass, all gathered to hear where the two newly Professed would be going. Sister Mary Gerard will be leaving for Palatine, Illinois and Sister Faustina Clare for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After being nourished spiritually, all came to Queen of Peace auditorium for a splendid buffet. The next day, we were happy to invite the newly Professed Little Sisters and their families for the traditional barbeque. Although we had prepared the tables and chairs outdoors, it was decided that with a chance of rain, it would be better to move to the auditorium. The cooking was still done outdoors under a small tent. Edwin Bergancia, a Jeanne Jugan Associate, provided musical entertainment during the meal and then, after the meal, family members, Little Sisters and guests took turns to entertain. It was an enjoyable evening for all!
