
Fourth of July Celebration
Our 4th of July celebrations included: saluting the flag with the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, the reading (by Mother Celine Thérèse) of the Declaration of Independence, the singing of “God Bless America” and Mass.
We were also entertained by a Chaminade student playing patriotic songs on bagpipes! His rendition of “Taps” and of the “Armed Forces Medley” were quite stirring.
It was a festive, spiritual, and patriotic day that was highly enjoyed by the Residents and Sisters alike.
Highlights from the Declaration
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. . . .
We . . . declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; . . . with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
