On Saturday, November 4 our doors opened to a generous crowd of supporters who rushed in with great anticipation to purchase a vast variety of holiday gifts & home-baked breads and cookies. Sr. Rose along with talented & creative Residents, volunteers and staff worked throughout the year to make one-of-a-kind ceramic, wood and fabric creations.
The Novitiate had two few tables of handmade items for sale in the lobby. We thank our novices who created the most beautiful handmade rosaries, cards, crocheted and knit items and joined us for the day.
Chef Kevin made three kinds of cookies and 2,000 Queen of Peace traditional scones for the bake sale.
What makes this day special is that it is more than just a sale. When the Residents quietly enter the auditorium there is nothing more heartwarming than the amazed look on their faces as they grin with silent humility and a feeling of dignity at how the work of their hands is so special to those who come to purchase our crafts.
This is the mission of the Little Sisters; to celebrate and honor our elderly. They are a gift from God!
Thank you to all who supported this wonderful tradition with a visit to our Home.
