Rapidly Being Tested
This week we began a rapid test only program at our Home. Prior to this change in procedure, our Sisters and dedicated Staff received a PCR test on Mondays and a rapid test on Thursdays.
There are several advantages to this revision in testing. First, is the cost savings to our Home. The PCR test is more expensive because it involves transportation and laboratory costs. The rapid test is done completely at our Home and the results are indeed “rapid.” In the event a positive test is detected immediate action may be taken to limit contacts within the Home.
As an aside, we have always required any work or service personnel from our contractors entering the Home during our lockdown, to take a rapid test before commencing work. In addition, all work or service personnel are escorted throughout our Home during their service call.
We look at this revision in testing as another step in the process of safely easing of some of the health and safety protocols introduced during our lockdown.
