Patron Saint of the Little Sisters of the Poor
Monday, March 20 was the feast day of St. Joseph. It was a very special day at Queen of Peace Residence as St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Our Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan, turned to St. Joseph to obtain all she needed to care for the elderly poor. Today we continue to confide our needs to St. Joseph.
The day was highlighted by Mass at Queen of Peace celebrated by Most Reverend Neil Edward Tiedemann, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn. After Mass, a special luncheon, provided by the Castellana Family Foundation, was served to our Residents and guests in honor of this special day.
Later in the day, a St. Joseph table of assorted breads, cakes and pastries was set up in the auditorium for all to enjoy in the joyous spirit of fellowship.
The Little Sisters of the Poor continue to look at St. Joseph as a father in the likeness of our heavenly Father, whose Providence watches over the elderly poor.
